SOTERIA Showcases Road Safety Innovations at RTR Conference 2026
For the second consecutive year, SOTERIA, represented by Dr Marina Georgiou (Netcompany) from the project coordination team, proudly participated in RTR Conference 2026 — the 9th edition of the European Conference on Results from Road Transport Research. Held in Brussels from 10–12 February 2026, the event brought together key stakeholders to showcase cutting-edge EU-funded research shaping the future of mobility.
Together with its sister projects PHOEBE and V4SAFETY, SOTERIA was featured in Parallel Session 1: “Predictive safety assessment framework and safer urban environments for vulnerable road users”, which took place on the first day of the conference, 10 February 2026 (11:00–12:30).
During the session, Dr Georgiou presented SOTERIA’s innovative road safety solutions, including:
- a domain-specific data space for the secure exchange of mobility and road safety-related data,
- urban digital twin and simulation tools for road safety assessment,
- AI-driven road safety analytics and risk assessment tools, and
- user-centric mobile and engagement solutions.
The presentation also highlighted the project’s real-world contributions across education, policy, and innovation, as well as the expected impacts of SOTERIA’s solutions in advancing safer urban environments. The session concluded with an engaging discussion with the audience, moderated by Mr. Andrea Superti (CINEA) & Dr. Magnus Granström (Chalmers).
The RTR Conference 2026 offered an excellent opportunity to showcase the work of the SOTERIA consortium while also highlighting strong collaboration within the EU Road Safety Cluster. Notably, SOTERIA contributed to the joint paper “Advancing Road Safety through Data: Challenges, Solutions, and Policy Insights from EU Road Safety Projects”(link), developed with fellow European initiatives and presented during the session.
SOTERIA also exchanged knowledge with experts from industry, research, and policymaking through participation in the interactive workshop on Federated Data and Scenario-based Validation for Safe and Trustworthy CCAM, organised by the SYNERGIES project t alongside the Conference.
By sharing knowledge, best practices, and innovations, European projects can amplify their collective impact — paving the way for safer, greener, and more efficient road transport systems across Europe.
