SOTERIA | Invitation to participate in Oxfordshire Smart Camera Pilot

Link to SOTERIA pilot survey

SOTERIA is launching the 1st round of demonstrations for the Oxfordshire Living Lab and invites you to be part of piloting our new solution for cyclists' road safety!

The SOTERIA project, funded by the European Commission and United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) under Horizon Europe, aims to enhance road safety through innovative technologies.

As part of the project, we are piloting the Rebo smart cycle camera and light, designed by Onsee to capture video footage of incidents 30 seconds before and after a click of a wireless handlebar button. The camera also collects sensor data and all data are automatically uploaded to your personal secure cloud account via home WiFi. You have control over data sharing, and how your anonymised data (we explain this later in this survey) could be used for processing and incident analysis.

The Rebo camera is among new technologies developed within SOTERIA to analyse and visualise hazards as well as analyse mobility patterns using advanced algorithms and AI. In addition, we're developing apps and nudge engines to enhance navigation and reduce risks in journeys. The overall aim of this project is to help prevent accidents and near-misses, understand cycling behaviours, and identify risks, ultimately making cycling safer and better for everyone.

In the upcoming pilot demonstration in Oxfordshire, there will be opportunities to test the Rebo camera as well as SOTERIA apps and tools. We are looking for people with any or little cycling experience in Oxfordshire to ride or test these technologies on their bikes and phones in the next few months. If selected to test the Rebo camera, we will lend you a camera to take with you on your rides. If you experience anything annoying, stressful or dangerous on your journey, we would like you to press the handlebar button within 30s after, so that this footage can be recorded, uploaded to the cloud and analysed.

Please take a few minutes to help complete this survey, so that we can enter you in the selection for this pilot. Further information will be sent once you're selected for this pilot.

This survey will take less than 5 minutes.

With our greatest gratitude,
The SOTERIA team
